Evolving Prisons

AWARD-NOMINATED PODCAST

HI, I'M KAIGAN.

I'm doing a PhD in Criminology at Westminster University in London, where I'm researching prison officer life satisfaction. While research is crucial, it is the power of storytelling and raising public awareness that drives meaningful change in prison.

I host the Evolving Prisons podcast, an award-nominated true crime podcast, featuring stories from people who've been to prison, those who work there, and experts to show the human behind the uniform or crime and the realities of life in prison.

I spent many years working in the criminal justice system in several countries, from working in a court, to working in a specialist sex offences unit of the Office of Public Prosecutions and subsequently working as an investigator. I even taught crime scene skills at an American summer camp in between. All of this has culminated in where my passion lies today at the intersection between prison research and journalism.
